RESPECT YOUR JEWELRY
Although diamonds are known as the hardest substance on earth, they CAN be chipped by a sharp blow. Gemstones are even more susceptible to damage (especially opals, pearls, emeralds, and tanzanite). We advise respecting your jewelry by removing it whenever doing rough work or when being near chemicals, INCLUDING chlorine in pools and hot tubs!
CLEANING
Keeping your jewelry clean will allow it to last longer and shine brighter. Jewelry attracts grease and grime from daily wear. This abrasive grit acts like sandpaper and wears away the jewelry metal, causing opportunity for lost stones or broken mountings.
We suggest using the appropriate type of home jewelry cleaner. We offer separate cleaners for your delicate gems, silver, platinum, and gold, as well as a treated polishing cloth. DO NOT use toothpaste as it will dull the surrounding metal and cause premature wear on your prongs. Chlorine, bleach, and even anti-bacterial soap are also known to cause damage to jewelry, so only clean it in recommended solutions.
INSPECTIONS
Just like your body and your car, your jewelry needs regular check-ups, too. Bring your fine jewelry to us periodically and let us give it a complimentary cleaning and inspection.
INSURANCE
Jewelry is an investment, so have it properly insured. We will gladly give you a complimentary appraisal on any piece purchased from us, and outside appraisals are available for a reasonable fee. Have these values updated at least once every five years to maintain their accuracy. We recommend Jewelers Mutual, as they specialize exclusively in jewelry policies.
